A troubled young man and his strait-laced niece embark on a thrilling odyssey through New York City in this heartrending drama based on an Oscar-winning short. As his life hits rock bottom, 20-something Richie decides to end it all, only to have his half-hearted suicide attempt interrupted by an urgent request from his sister to babysit her precocious daughter. So begins a madcap tour of Manhattan after dark, as uncle and niece find unexpected bonds in the unlikeliest of places.

  2. Keep an eye out for Shawn's next production, Sidney Hall. Its script was acquired by Ridley Scott about six years ago, but was never produced, so after Before I Disappear had its run, Shawn got the rights back. He's been busying himself with the project all year and is actually making it in a very tight ship way. I can't wait to hear more about the project!

  3. I remember seeing the short when it was on the festival circuit. I had no idea that it was the movie nominated for an Oscar until it won and the director/actor showed up on stage and he still looked like a suicidal mess.

I actually had no idea that they remade the short as a feature two years later until, again, I was at the festival and I saw it listed. So glad they kept the original two leads (and retained the bowling alley dance number).
