Netflix Nugget - Week of March 28th

PEE-WEE'S BIG HOLIDAY
Director: John Lee
Writers: Paul Reubens, Paul Rust
Stars: Paul Reubens, Jordan Black, Doug Cox

Synopsis:  A fateful meeting with a mysterious stranger inspires Pee-wee Herman to take his first-ever holiday in this epic story of friendship and destiny.

Why We Suggest It:  If you were a child of the 80's than you grew up with Pee-wee.  It is a blast to see him back starring in another movie.  While not as classic as Pee-wee's Big Adventure, it is still a very fun movie that pays a lot of tribute to what made the character so lovable 30 years ago.  This movie was made for the fans and even though Paul Reubens is  in his 60's he is still very much able to pull off his signature character.  Big Holiday is a silly and nostalgic trip back to my childhood that was very much welcomed.

Top 10 Greatest Gambling Movies Everyone Should See

Written By: Aaron Meyer

My Wife and I just got back from a week long stay in Vegas to celebrate my birthday and we had a great time.  After spending some time down on the Casino floor and being surrounded by all the lights and sounds that make up the Vegas strip, we had gone back to our hotel room for the evening to rest our feet and count just how much we lost at the tables.  Flipping through the channels I noticed that one of the channels was playing The Gambler (1974).  Now I had never seen the original in it's entirety and I didn't that night either but it did give me an idea of giving a top 10 Greatest Gambling Movies that everyone should see list.

Indiana Jones 5 Announced!

Indiana Jones 5 will be a reality in 2019.  Steven Speilberg is set as the director of the franchise.  There were rumors that a new Indiana Jones movie was in the works back in February.  At the time Speilberg let it be known that he was interested in having Chris Pratt also join the cast.  There is no confirmation one way or another yet on his casting and who else will be joining Ford yet remains to be seen.
“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn said in a statement. “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.” - Disney
George Lucas however is not involved in the project this time around.  Typically George and Steven had to agree on every detail of a film in order for the project to move forward which has been the biggest reason for such a gap between each film.

While many fans have mixed reactions after the 4th edition to the franchise and the muddy reviews it received, many are still excited to see Ford retain his role for what could be the 74 year old's last time as the character.  It will remain to be seen if they hand off the franchise to another star in the future or simply end the characters story with this one as a final send off.

Netflix Nugget - Week of March 14th

STONEHEARST ASYLUM
Director:  Brad Anderson
Writers: Joe Gagemi
Stars: Kate Beckinsale, Brendan Gleeson, Ben Kingsley, Michael Caine, Jim Sturgess
IMDB.com Page

Synopsis:  A couple of days before Christmas in 1899, the Oxford new graduate Dr. Edward Newgate arrives at the Stonehearst Asylum to complete training for his specialty of asylum medicine. He is met by armed men who take him to Dr. Silas Lamb, who welcomes his help and takes him under his wing. Edward is shocked to see the methods that Dr Lamb uses to run this asylum. He becomes infatuated with Eliza Graves, one of the patients who is a lady of status and does not seem to belong. One night, Edward overhears a knocking from the bowels of the facility and is shocked to find that everything is not as it seems in this place and that his uneasy feelings may be justified. What will Edward Choose?

Why We Suggest It:  The twists and turns of this film are only matched by the halls of the asylum that this film takes place in.  Sir Ben Kingsley and Jim Sturgess both give wonderful performances as medical doctors in the insane asylum, where the staff where make you wonder if their methods aren't just as crazy as the patients.  This movie is both entertaining and engrossing as things in the asylum aren't as they always seem.  A star studded cast that includes, Brendan Gleeson, Kate Beckinsale, and Michael Caine greatly serve this atmospheric tale, taken from Edgar Allen Poe, make this one will give Shutter Island a run for its money in the creepy Asylum genre.
